1. It promotes conformity.
Everyone is using excel so that I will follow suit. Hey! There is more out there. Most likely better suited for what you need. Look around, think out of the box, man!
2. It slows down business improvement.
“We already have excel as part of the office package so won’t be spending money on your fancy software.” How many times have you heard that?
3. It crashes all the time.
As soon as you start incorporating a bit of coding, links to other documents or god forbid network drives, it goes berserk on a regular basis.
4. It overwhelms people with data.
Data, data, data! Enough! Yes, you need data for different reasons but do you really need to start everything with a spreadsheet? How would your life change if you could use a user-friendly interface instead?
5. It ruins presentations.
How many of you have a habit of coping and pasting excel spreadsheets into your powerpoint presentations? No one can read these tiny numbers for god’s sake!
