When was the last time you’ve checked if your professional vocabulary is up to date?
With the best intentions and strong professional background, you will get nowhere if the message you want to get across sounds outdated and boring. From what I have seen over the last few years, quality professionals struggle in this area a lot. Most of them do.
Don’t be one of “those”.
Have you ever heard quality engineer mentioning the ROI for much-needed inspection equipment? What about cost justification for additional staff training? There you go. That’s the problem, right there.
Quality of products and services is managed across the business. Therefore the language we choose must be relevant to everyone in the chain. Constant talk about “nonconformities” will not get any appreciation from the finance team. “Compensation” from the supplier for the poor quality of delivered products will.
